Curtains are a great way to complete the look of your home. But in Singapore's hot and humid climate, curtains get dirty very easily. They are usually the dirtiest fabric in your home.

Curtains are like air filters. They gather dust, and absorb moisture and odours from cooking and smoking. It also traps insects, pet fur and germs.

We wash our clothes regularly, but unlike garments, curtains are bulky and difficult to wash. It is also a huge hassle to take down and put back. We usually attend to them last until it gets really dirty and smelly. If left in a dirty state for too long, mould or mildew will stain the curtains making them difficult, and sometimes impossible, to remove.

How Often Should You Clean Your Curtains?

A lot depends on the environment you are in. Curtains trap dust and other airborne particles that enter your home through open windows. If your home is air-conditioned 24/7, or windows are closed most of the time, washing them every 6 to 9 months is fine.

However if you live in a dusty environment or close to roads with heavy traffic, washing every 3 to 4 months is recommended.

If you or family members smoke, the curtains will trap smoke particles and absorb the smell. If not cleaned they will turn yellow over time. If your curtains are in a smoky environment it is best to wash them every 2 to 3 months.

Should You Dry Clean or Steam Clean Your Dirty Curtains?


Dry cleaning removes deeply embedded dust, dirt and stains. It also disinfects the curtain ridding it of germs, allergens and dust mites. We recommend dry cleaning your curtains if they are very dirty or soiled.	Steam cleaning is fast and efficient. The high temperature of steam removes stains, grease, dirt and allergens. It is also eco-friendly as no harsh chemicals are used in the steam cleaning process.

1. Curtain Dry Cleaning

Dry cleaning of curtains is done in our in-house factory. As such we are able to offer fast turnaround.

Our standard turnaround is 3 days. If you need your curtains back the same day just arrange a collection before 12 noon and we will return your curtains on the same day (additional fees apply). In addition we also provide free removal and installation for standard height ceilings below 3 metres with a minimum order of $100. (Extra charges apply for high ceilings)

If you need temporary curtains we can provide them for rental at $40 per pair.

Curtains are washed in our factory following a 7-STEP process:

Pre-wash inspection
Deeply embedded dirt and stains are removed in a slow tumble process at high temperatures in a digitally controlled ItalClean machine.
Spot treatment (if any)
Chemical-free UV-C light to kill germs and pathogens*
Steaming to straighten and touch up creases
Fold
Pack

*What UV-C does is it breaks up the DNA (of the germ) and therefore the organism dies. Studies have shown that UV-C eliminates most micro-organisms, like bacteria, viruses and fungi.

2. On-Site Curtain Steam Cleaning

We also offer same day on-site curtain cleaning. A custom high temperature steam cleaning machine is used for steam cleaning.

Steam cleaning is also highly recommended for roman blinds as they are susceptible to damage during dismantling.

3. Curtain Repairs

Curtain rails, hooks or tracks - if these require repair we will fix them on the spot.
Curtains in poor condition or require alterations - we can get these fixed.

*Types of Curtains:

Day curtains, also known as sheers, are made from light coloured materials to allow light in from outside.
Night curtains are heavier in weight and are of dark coloured materials. These are drawn at night for privacy.
Blackout curtains are made from dense or layered fabric such as felt, velvet or suede. Usually comes with a blackout liner to completely block out light.
Roman Blinds are made from fabric that is designed to pleat when raised. When the blind is lifted, the cords pull the slats together and force the blind to fold into pleats.
