While clothing is cleaned regularly, curtains are often overlooked due to their size and the inconvenience of dismantling and reinstalling them. As a result, cleaning is frequently delayed until visible stains, odours, or deterioration appear. Prolonged neglect can lead to mould and mildew growth, causing permanent staining and fabric damage that may be difficult, or even impossible, to fully restore.

How Often Should You Clean Your Curtains?

The right curtain cleaning frequency depends largely on your living environment. Curtains naturally trap dust and airborne particles that enter the home through open windows. In households where windows remain closed most of the time or air-conditioning is used continuously, professional cleaning every 6 to 9 months is generally sufficient.

For homes located in dustier surroundings or near busy roads with heavy traffic, curtains are exposed to higher levels of pollutants. In such environments, more frequent cleaning - approximately every 3 to 4 months - is recommended to maintain cleanliness and fabric freshness.

In households where smoking occurs, curtains absorb smoke particles and odours, which can cause discolouration and persistent smells over time. To prevent yellowing and odour build-up, curtains in smoky environments should ideally be cleaned every 2 to 3 months.

Should You Dry Clean or Steam Clean Your Dirty Curtains?

Dry cleaning removes deeply embedded dust, dirt and stains. It also disinfects the curtain ridding it of germs, allergens and dust mites. We recommend dry cleaning your curtains if they are very dirty or soiled.	Steam cleaning is fast and efficient. The high temperature of steam removes stains, grease, dirt and allergens. It is also eco-friendly as no harsh chemicals are used in the steam cleaning process.

Our Curtain Cleaning Services

1. Curtain Dry Cleaning

Curtain dry cleaning is carried out at our fully equipped in-house facility. This allows us to maintain strict quality control and a faster turnaround.

The standard turnaround time is 3 days.

For urgent requirements, same-day service is available. If collection is arranged before 12 noon, curtains will be returned on the same day (additional express charges apply). 

We also offer free removal and reinstallation for standard-height ceilings below 3 metres, with a minimum order of $100. Additional charges apply for higher ceilings.

For added convenience, temporary curtains are available for rental at $40 per pair.

Curtains are washed in our factory following a 7-STEP process:

1. Pre-wash inspection
2. Deeply embedded dirt and stains are removed in a slow tumble process at high temperatures in a digitally controlled ItalClean machine.
3. Spot treatment (if any)
4. Chemical-free UV-C light to kill germs and pathogens*
   
5. Steaming to straighten and touch up creases
6. Fold
7. Pack

You will receive your curtains smelling fresh and clean😊.

*What UV-C does is it breaks up the DNA (of the germ) and therefore the organism dies. Studies have shown that UV-C eliminates most micro-organisms, like bacteria, viruses and fungi.

2. On-Site Curtain Steam Cleaning

We also provide same-day on-site curtain steam cleaning for your convenience. We use a specialised high-temperature steam cleaning machine to effectively remove dust, allergens, and odours, while refreshing your curtains without the need for removal. This method ensures minimal disruption and delivers hygienic, reliable results.

Steam cleaning is also highly recommended for roman blinds as they are susceptible to damage during dismantling.

3. Curtain Repairs

• Curtain rails, hooks, and tracks – If any components require repair, our crew will attend to them promptly on-site where possible.
• Curtains in poor condition or requiring alterations – We offer professional repair and alteration services to restore both functionality and appearance.

*Types of Curtains:

• Day curtains, also known as sheers, are made from light coloured materials to allow light in from outside.
• Night curtains are heavier in weight and are of dark coloured materials. These are drawn at night for privacy.
• Blackout curtains are made from dense or layered fabric such as felt, velvet or suede. Usually comes with a blackout liner to completely block out light.
• Roman Blinds are made from fabric that is designed to pleat when raised. When the blind is lifted, the cords pull the slats together and force the blind to fold into pleats.
