The “Cleaning” Process
Definition: “clean” 1. Free from dirt; unsoiled; unstained: She bathed and put on a clean dress. 2. Free from foreign or extraneous matter: clean sand. 3. Free from pollution; unadulterated; pure: clean air; clean water. 4. Habitually free of dirt: Cats are considered clean animals. 5. Characterized by a fresh, wholesome quality: the clean smell of pine. The process of “CLEANING
” is the removal of foreign particle and returning the article to its unadulterated state. It is not restoring the article to its “new” or “original” condition. “Cleaning” is abrasive and potentially damaging to the article. Foreign particle removal can be carried out by frictional forces and/or by chemical reaction.

For laundry, we use both methods to remove undesirable foreign particles from your fabric:
- solvent: water / perc
- catalyst: fabric safe detergent
- enzyme: proteases and amylases
- sanitiser: ozone
- frictional: agitating cycle
Garments stored in soiled condition for a long time are difficult to bring back to their original color and texture. Natural fibers such as wool, cotton, and silk of lighter colours should not be left in dirty or soiled condition for long amounts of time as they absorb dirt in their texture and are unlikely to be restored to their original colour and finish.
